tcpMDT 26 is now available: the new version includes AI, surface improvements and new tools for civil engineering
Aplitop has introduced tcpMDT 26, the new version of its software for surveying and civil engineering. This update introduces improvements in different areas of the program, from surface processing to parcel management, interoperability and new commands. In addition, for the first time, it incorporates an artificial intelligence assistant designed to make the software easier to use.
The goal remains the same: to help professionals manage the entire workflow within AutoCAD®, BricsCAD®, GstarCAD®, progeCAD® and ZWCAD®.
An AI assistant to locate functions and answer questions
The main new feature in tcpMDT 26 is the incorporation of an artificial intelligence-based assistant. Through natural language queries, users can locate commands, resolve questions about how the program works and receive guidance on different workflows.
This capability is complemented by compatibility with MCP (Model Context Protocol), which makes it possible to connect certain software operations with compatible external assistants. It is another step towards a more natural interaction with technical tools, making use of the possibilities offered by AI in everyday tasks.
Surfaces: more control during terrain modelling
The surfaces module receives several improvements designed to make it easier to create and edit digital terrain models.
It is now possible to automatically generate breaklines taking into account maximum distance and angle criteria, helping to avoid connections that are not representative. This is complemented by the possibility of importing several LAS or LAZ files simultaneously, combining surfaces using transition areas and importing breaklines in LandXML format.
Together, these functions make it possible to work with more complete models and adjust the terrain representation more accurately.
Parcels with interactive editing and geometric validation
Another area that evolves in this version is the parcels module.
The new commands allow sides and vertices to be moved interactively, automatically updating the related parcels as changes are made.
In addition, tcpMDT 26 incorporates a specific tool to detect geometric issues, such as overlaps, gaps or invalid geometries. The program generates a report with the errors found to speed up their review before continuing with the project.
More interoperability options
The new version expands the possibilities for exchanging information with other programs and formats commonly used in the sector.
New features include integration with SketchUp, export to GeoPDF, import of OBJ files with textures and reading attributes in Shape and GeoPackage files. New tools are also included to query, edit and label GIS attributes directly on the drawing.
In the BIM section, tcpMDT 26 adopts IFC 4.3 as the main export format and incorporates a wizard that organises the process in four steps, as well as mapping MDT objects to their corresponding IFC entities.
More functions for civil engineering projects
The Professional version incorporates improvements in different tools aimed at infrastructure design and monitoring.
The update adds new options for hydrology, roads, sections, pavement layers, superelevations, measurements and construction progress monitoring. It also reorganises the setting-out module into three main commands: analyse points, set out points and calculate points, with the aim of simplifying field implementation work.
