On March 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the team of professional surveyors and mountaineers from Sostremetries gave a talk organized by Aplitop, in collaboration with Mendilur, which was held at La Térmica Contemporary Culture Center (Málaga), specifically in the Benalmádena room.
During the talk, the team shared their experience in The Pyrenean 3000ers project, reviewed the main milestones achieved during its first year, the impact of its advances on both the scientific community and the mountaineering world, and previewed the upcoming challenges and objectives planned for 2026.
Table of contents:
🔷 Brief presentation of Sostremetries (objective and history)
🔷 Review of the historical lists of 3,000-meter peaks in the Pyrenees to show the need to apply objective criteria and accurate measurements
🔷 Compilation of the new list, from the preliminary study with detailed analysis of LiDAR data to field data collection with GNSS equipment
🔷 Presentation of two iconic peaks that could not be included in the new list (and the reasons why), and two previously unknown peaks that were included and were important to publicize
🔷 Open question and answer session
