21. BIM

The progressive introduction of BIM in construction is causing profound changes in the work methodology, the applications used and the exchanges of information between the agents involved in the projects.
Although in building projects there is a reasonable level of interoperability between applications using the IFC format, the data commonly used in infrastructure projects is not yet well managed by the best-known BIM applications.
APLITOP guides its users so that they do not have to change their methods and tools, but only adapt them to easily integrate into OpenBIM workflows.
Terrains
MDT allows you to define and assign sets of properties to the project, place and each of the elements, being able to export to IFC points, stations, topographical surfaces and earthworks of clearing and embankment. You can also import surfaces of different types and provenances.
Roads
MDT can export to IFC road and urban road surface layers, ditches and drainage elements and horizontal signage. You can also export horizontal and vertical alignments in IFC 4.1 format (APLITOP actively participates with buildingSMART International and developers from several countries in the development of the IFC format for infrastructure projects, mainly roads, railways, bridges and tunnels.
IFC Alignment) and soon you will be able to export to IFC 4.3 (IFC Road).
Networks
MDT has tools to draw in plant and profile networks of water, sanitation, rainwater, etc.  The pipelines and wells of these networks, with their respective properties, can be exported to IFC.

With MDT V8 a set of commands oriented to this working methodology is implemented. The goal is to centralize all project information in a digital information model.
We present a series of commands which will allow us to import and export IFC files as well as the possibility of assigning properties to the different elements of the work project.
This module has also included the commands needed to import and export LandXML files.
