6.6. Calculate Volume

This process can be applied to a single zone, or select multiple zones at once. In case of selecting a single zone, by default the initial area of the project will be assigned as natural terrain, and a name will be proposed for the design surface. By pressing the corresponding buttons ... The user can change both files:
The parameters involved in the calculation of volumes are:
Cell Size: Horizontal distance to create the regular meshes with which the volume between surfaces is calculated. The smaller this value, the more accurate and slower the calculation.
Positive Clearance: permissible vertical distance between the natural terrain and the design surface when the latter is higher. The higher the positive clearance, the lower the fill volume.
Negative Clearance: permissible vertical distance between the natural terrain and the design surface when the latter is lower. The higher the negative clearance, the lower the volume of clearance.
Once the volume has been calculated, a window appears with the results:
The Print button allows you to make a printed list of the results.
By activating the Draw Volumes option, the result of the calculation can be graphically represented in the drawing. With  the Minimum Elevation Difference parameter, you can avoid representing zones where the elevation difference is not significant, because neither cells nor elevation differences that are less than this value will be labeled. The rest of the options, layers, colors, are identical to the MDT surface difference volume calculation.
If you close the window with  the OK button, the results will be saved to the project. Subsequently, with the Volume Report command, you can quickly make a summary list with the volumes of all the calculated zones.
