Project challenges
The excavation of a 6.2-kilometer tunnel has started by the State Railway of Thailand. This tunnel will serve as a link between Den Chai in Phrae and Chiang Khong district in Chiang Rai.
The double-track railway project has a length of 323 kilometers. The construction started on 2022 and will end in 2028.

The route passes through 4 provinces: Phrae, Lampang, Phayao and Chiang Rai, 17 districts, 59 sub-districts, with a total of 26 stations and train stops, consisting of 4 large stations, stations 9 small stations and 13 bus stops and 4 container and unloading areas.
Upon its completion, the dual track upgrades will facilitate seamless connections to Laos and Myanmar. The Thai government anticipates that this development will lead to a reduction in logistics expenses and stimulate trade with neighboring countries, enhancing economic cooperation and growth.

Solutions
The engineering team need precise volume, shape calculation and report. Their exist instruments could not archive their requirement. Topcon team provide demonstration of GT-1201 + TcpTunnel & TcpTunnel CAD to them.
Topcon engineers created the project in Tcp Tunnel CAD.
The client’s engineering team prepared horizontal and vertical alignments, control points and tunnel templates. On the tunnel site, they used both GTL-1200 with TcpTunnel and GTL-1000 + FC-6000 with TcpTunnel Scan.
Hardware used : TOPCON GT-1201,GTL-1003,FC-6000

Benefits
The clients are satisfied with the results and report from the solution as they can speed up their work with accurate data for stake, as built and other specific survey tasks such as control of tunnel execution.
The results were very good and accurate and have allowed us to speed up the tasks of survey profiles, stake out and control of execution of the tunnel works.
